Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 23/24 academic year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Your role will involve developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with colleagues and parents, and creating an inclusive learning environment that fosters academic and social-emotional growth.

As a Special Education Teacher on Hilton Head Island, you will have the opportunity to work in a picturesque setting while making a meaningful impact on the lives of students.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
• Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet students' diverse learning styles and abilities
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional development
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented in the classroom
• Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction and intervention strategies
• Communicate and collaborate with parents to provide updates on students' progress and address their concerns
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct assessments, evaluate students' needs, and provide appropriate interventions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and reports

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid South Carolina state certification in Special Education
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders
• Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting students' success
