Apply NowJob Description: We are seeking two dedicated and qualified Special Education Teachers to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. These positions will involve working during the Extended School Year (ESY) program, with continuation into the New School Year (NSY). The first position will be focused on primary school students under the age of 7, while the second position will involve a float/support role within the special education department.
Responsibilities: Extended School Year (ESY):
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities during the ESY program
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on students' needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet students' unique learning styles
- Collaborate with other educators, related service providers, and families to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and assess students' progress, adjusting instruction and supports as necessary
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies
New School Year (NSY):
- Continue to provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in the designated grade level or float/support role
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to ensure the implementation of students' IEPs in the inclusive classroom setting
- Develop and modify instructional materials and strategies to meet students' diverse learning needs
- Monitor and assess students' progress, communicating with parents/guardians and other team members as needed
- Attend IEP meetings, collaborate with related service providers, and contribute to the development and review of IEP goals
- Implement behavior management techniques and support students' social-emotional development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Pennsylvania state certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an ESY or NSY setting
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Employment Details:
- Extended School Year (ESY) Dates: July 5 - July 28
- Monday to Friday
- ESY Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- New School Year (NSY): Continuation of employment
- Job #1: Primary school position, working with students under 7 years old
- Job #2: Float/support role within the special education department
