We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our dynamic team for the 2023-2024 school year. As an SLPA, you will work closely with licensed Speech Language Pathologists to provide support and assistance to students with communication disorders within our school district located near Platte, South Dakota.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with licensed Speech Language Pathologists to implement speech and language therapy programs as outlined in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Conduct individual or small group therapy sessions with students to address their specific speech and language goals.
- Assist in conducting screenings and assessments to identify students with communication disorders.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of student progress, therapy plans, and session notes.
- Provide support to students in their classrooms to promote generalization of communication skills across different settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies for enhancing students' communication skills.
- Assist with the selection and use of appropriate assistive technology devices for students with communication impairments.
- Stay updated on current research, best practices, and trends in the field of speech-language pathology.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Speech Language Pathology or related field.
- Certification as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA).
- Valid South Dakota SLPA license or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in an educational or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of speech and language disorders, assessment techniques, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
