Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (School)

Job Description: Our School system in Gurnee, Illinois is seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team of professionals, providing exceptional speech and language services to children ages 3-5 within our school system. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the communication skills and development of young children while working in a supportive and collaborative educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess children's speech, language, and communication abilities, with a focus on the 3-5 year old age group.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and children's specific needs.
- Provide direct therapy services to children, targeting areas such as articulation, phonology, expressive and receptive language, social communication, and pre-literacy skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support children's speech and language development within the classroom and home environments.
- Implement evidence-based strategies and activities to enhance children's communication skills, including play-based interventions.
- Monitor children's progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and child outcomes.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of children's educational plans.
- Stay up-to-date with current research, trends, and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology, specifically related to the 3-5 year old age group.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid Illinois state licensure (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in a school-based or early intervention setting.
- Strong knowledge of assessment tools, therapy techniques, and intervention strategies for speech and language disorders in young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with children, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner.
