Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our educational team. The SLP will play a vital role in supporting students' communication needs, enabling their academic and social success. You will provide assessment, intervention, and consultation services for students with a range of speech and language disorders within a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of students’ speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment findings.
  • Provide direct therapy services tailored to each student’s goals.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other school staff to address students' needs.
  • Utilize assistive technology and alternative communication methods when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, and student progress.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Stay updated on best practices and legal requirements for school-based therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Michigan state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates will be considered.
  • Michigan Department of Education (MDE) approval as a School Speech-Language Pathologist, or ability to obtain approval.
  • Clearances required for working in schools, including:
    • Michigan State Police Background Check
    • FBI Criminal Background Check
    • Child Abuse and Neglect Registry clearance

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Ability to develop effective therapy plans and adapt strategies for diverse needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with technology, including teletherapy platforms and communication devices, is a plus.
