Job Description: School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, families, and other specialists to create and implement individualized intervention plans that promote academic and social success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide direct therapy to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities and home routines.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing professional recommendations and progress updates.
  • Educate school staff and families on strategies to support communication development.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.
  • Licensure and Certification Requirements:

    • Current and valid Maryland SLP license issued by the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.
    • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
    • Eligibility for a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) School-Based SLP Certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Additional Requirements:

    • Passing score on the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology.
    • Experience with pediatric or school-based populations (preferred).
    • Knowledge of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and IEP processes.
