Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our school team in Auburn, WA. As a TVI, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized educational support to visually impaired students within our district.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with students, parents, and educational staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students.
- Assess students' visual impairments and their impact on learning and daily life.
- Provide direct instruction and support in braille, adaptive technology, and other specialized materials.
- Adapt classroom materials and teaching methods to accommodate visually impaired students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments to instructional plans.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP progress.
- Attend team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as required.
- Stay current on best practices and advancements in the field of visual impairment education.
Qualifications:
- Valid Teaching Credential with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Endorsement.
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt and modify instructional materials to meet individual student needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with visual impairments.
