Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)- Teletherapy

Location: Visalia, California

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
  • Active California licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
  • Previous experience in a school setting is a plus
  • Experience with AAC devices 
  • Knowledgeable regarding IEPs 


Job Details:

  • Part time: 3 days a week 
  • School based Opening that allows you to work from home
  • Remote 1099 Position
  • Caseload details disclosed on interview 

Responsibilities:

Assessment-

  • Conducting Evaluations: Administering standardized assessments and informal evaluations to determine students’ speech and language needs remotely.
  • Data Collection: Gathering data through digital tools to track progress and inform treatment decisions.

Intervention-

  • Providing Therapy: Delivering individual or group therapy sessions via video conferencing, focusing on areas such as articulation, language development, fluency, and social communication.
  • Creating Custom Materials: Developing engaging, interactive materials tailored to students’ needs, utilizing digital resources.

Collaboration-

  • Working with Educators: Collaborating with teachers to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
  • Engaging with Families: Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers to discuss progress, provide strategies for home support, and address any concerns.

Documentation-

  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of assessments, therapy sessions, and progress notes in accordance with school policies and regulations.
  • Reporting: Preparing reports for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and participating in IEP meetings virtually.

Professional Development-

  • Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of best practices in teletherapy, including new tools, techniques, and research.
  • Participating in Training: Engaging in professional development opportunities focused on teletherapy practices and technology.

Compliance-

  • Adhering to Regulations: Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws regarding telehealth services, including privacy regulations like HIPAA.
  • Following Ethical Guidelines: Upholding the ethical standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in a teletherapy setting.

Technology Management-

  • Utilizing Platforms: Familiarizing with teletherapy platforms and tools to facilitate effective communication and therapy delivery.
  • Troubleshooting Issues: Addressing any technical difficulties that may arise during sessions to ensure a smooth experience for students.

Flexibility and Adaptability-

  • Adjusting Approaches: Modifying therapy techniques and strategies based on students’ engagement and needs in a virtual setting.
  • Maintaining Engagement: Finding creative ways to keep students motivated and focused during online sessions.

By balancing these responsibilities, teletherapy SLPs can effectively support students’ speech and language development in a remote learning environment.
