Located in Canton, MO, this contract position offers an opportunity for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide therapy services in a hospital setting. The role focuses on evaluating and rehabilitating patients experiencing communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders while following clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough screening, evaluation, and rehabilitation of patients with speech and swallowing challenges.
  • Develop individualized plans of care using standardized assessments and evidence-based interventions.
  • Regularly assess patient progress and modify treatments in compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust services as necessary; make referrals based on outcomes.
  • Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors and healthcare team regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  • Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries documenting services rendered.
  • Accurately document all clinical data and treatment minutes in the electronic health record system.
  • Participate in patient care meetings, utilization reviews, and required trainings or in-services.
  • Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
  • Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Adhere to ASHA and state licensure practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active ASHA certification and state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Proven experience in hospital-based speech therapy services.
  • Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to ethical and professional practice standards.
