A dedicated Speech Therapist is sought to provide expert assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders. This role aims to enhance patients’ communication abilities and ensure safe swallowing practices within a hospital environment. The position offers a rewarding opportunity to work directly with patients and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations and provide targeted therapy for speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Document patient progress through detailed initial evaluations, plans of care, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Communicate with insurance providers to verify patient benefits.
- Prepare thoroughly for all evaluation and treatment sessions.
- Educate and train hospital staff—including nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service workers—on evaluation results and evidence-based treatment recommendations.
- Develop and deliver in-service training and educational programs to healthcare personnel.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver individualized, patient-centered care plans.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas.
- Conduct patient reminder calls and assist patients and families in navigating hospital services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Relevant degree and licensure/certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Proven experience in assessing and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide education to multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with medical record documentation and insurance processes.
- Collaborative approach with healthcare providers and patient families.
