Apply NowA Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year at an elementary school located in Dumfries, VA. This contract role is part-time, offering up to 30 hours per week of in-person work, primarily supporting elementary students with speech and language needs.
Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the SLP will deliver individualized speech and language assessments and therapy, while providing consultative services to school personnel. This role involves collaboration with teachers, families, and community partners to support students with special education needs, ensuring their communication development aligns with personal and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech, language, articulation, and auditory screenings and evaluations for students referred for special education services.
- Collaborate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in developing and interpreting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide consultative support to school staff regarding speech and language development and interventions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families, school staff, and healthcare providers regarding student progress.
- Assist in developing appropriate language programs for use in classroom and community settings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Virginia SLP license.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students with special education needs and their families.
- Experience and training in speech and language assessment, evaluation, and consultation.
- Knowledge of special education processes, procedures, and disability categories.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and effective two-way communication.
- Ability to maintain positive professional relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
- Previous experience in school settings preferred.
- Ability to bring lightheartedness and a sense of humor to the workplace.
