URGENT HIRE | Licensed School Social Worker or Counselor | Lapeer, MI

We are partnering with a school district to find a Licensed school Social Worker or Counselor for a contract position in Lapeer, MI.

School Year: Remainder of current school year and full 2023-2024 SY

Position Type: Full-Time

Licensure/Certifications Required:

• Masters in School Social Work per the Michigan Rules and Regulations for Special Education
• Limited License accepted as long as candidate is enrolled in MSW program for social work in special education.

Hours per Week: 40 hours

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: June 30, 2024

Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling and support services to students with diverse needs in a school setting
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns
• Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals to support students' academic and social-emotional development
• Assess students' needs and develop appropriate interventions and support plans
• Facilitate crisis interventions and provide referrals to outside agencies as needed
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field
• Licensure as a School Social Worker in Michigan or eligible for licensure
• Limited License accepted if enrolled in an MSW program for social work in special education
• Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or related setting
• Knowledge of Michigan rules and regulations for special education
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
