Vision Impairment Specialist - ESY (with potential for NSY) Pittsburgh, PA

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Vision Impairment Specialist (VI) to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will initially be part-time for the Extended School Year (ESY) program, with the potential to transition to a full-time role for the New School Year (NSY). The VI Specialist will provide educational services and support to students with vision impairments, ensuring their success and access to the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with vision impairments during the ESY program
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to create an inclusive learning environment
• Utilize appropriate adaptive materials, assistive technology, and instructional strategies to enhance students' access to the curriculum
• Monitor students' progress and make adjustments to instruction as needed
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Vision Impairments, or related field
• Valid Pennsylvania state certification as a Vision Impairment Specialist
• Previous experience working with students with vision impairments, including knowledge of Braille and assistive technology
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Employment Details:

• Extended School Year (ESY) Dates: July 5 - July 28
• Monday to Friday
• ESY Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• New School Year (NSY): Schedule to be determined (potential for full-time)
• Part-time position for ESY, transitioning to full-time for NSY
