Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our school district in Wyoming, DE. As a School OT, you will provide on-site occupational therapy services to students with a variety of needs and disabilities. Your role will involve evaluating students, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing therapy interventions to enhance students' participation and engagement in their academic and functional activities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' fine motor skills, sensory integration, visual motor skills, and activities of daily living
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and intervention strategies
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, targeting their specific needs and goals
- Utilize evidence-based techniques and interventions to promote students' functional independence, motor coordination, sensory processing, and self-regulation skills
- Monitor and document students' progress regularly, adjusting therapy plans as necessary
- Provide consultation and training to teachers, parents, and educational staff regarding strategies for supporting students' occupational therapy needs within the school environment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including evaluation reports, progress notes, and IEP documentation
Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license/certification in Delaware
- Previous experience working in a school setting is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy principles, assessments, and interventions
- Familiarity with IEP processes and experience in developing and implementing IEP goals
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, parents, and other related service providers
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Employment Details:
- Start Date: August 24, 2023
- End Date: June 7, 2024
- Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Work Location: On-site only (within school premises)
