Travel Nursing Duties
Your primary travel nurse responsibilities will be to work with communities from across the country, meeting individual needs and working together to come up with the best solutions for prolonged health. You will move between hospitals, clinics, patient homes and other facilities, where you will meet a wide range of patients needing help in a variety of different ways. Your typically daily tasks will include the administration of medicine as well as performing routine tests and working with the physicians to decide on a health plan for your patients. You may even provide meals and other essential items to your patients who are bedridden.
Travel Nursing Education Requirements
There are specific travel nurse certifications that you must obtain in order to become a travel nurse. To start, you must be a licensed practical nurse or a registered nurse. It is required that you have either a certificate or diploma in practical nursing. Those who have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing can have even better luck finding a position as a travel nurse. All states require that you be certified by passing the National Council Licensure Examination. There is an opportunity to acquire a voluntary certification as well. Beyond the education requirements, traveling nurses should be able to work well with a myriad of different people, as frequent travel will place the nurse in different situations that may be outside of his or her comfort zone. Traveling nurses should know how to work well with others and communicate efficiently.
