A school in the Providence, Rhode Island area is searching for a contracted Special Education Teacher (SPED) for the remainder of the 23/24 school year and the full 24/25 school year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional educational support and services to students with diverse learning needs! This a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, working with students in grades 6th - 8th. 

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Rhode Island Teaching Certificate
  • Must have a Rhode Island PreK - 12 Special Education Certificate or Cross-Categorical Special Education Certificate
  • Must have Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education, or related field

Position Details:

  • Full-time / 37.5 hours a week
  • 04/29/2024 - 06/24/2024, opportunities to extend into 24-25 school year if interested
  • Caseload: middle school behavior classroom, mild/moderate disabilities, specific/additional details will be discussed during the interview process

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with students within inclusion, small groups, and individual settings.
  • Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans to accommodate varying learning styles.
  • Monitor and track student progress; communicate progress to parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes student engagement, motivation, and self-confidence.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and support students in developing social skills.
