Job Title: Full-Time Special Education Teacher

Location: Plymouth, MN

Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Special Education Teacher to join our team in Plymouth, MN. As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs. You will work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field

Certifications:

  • Minnesota State Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education
  • Additional certifications or endorsements in specific areas of special education (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral disorders) preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, tailoring instruction to meet their unique learning needs and goals
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, social skills, and life skills, using evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated instruction
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure that students receive appropriate accommodations and supports in inclusive classroom settings
  • Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal assessments, and use data to adjust instruction and interventions as needed
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and soliciting feedback on their educational experiences
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, to develop and review students' educational goals and accommodations
  • Stay current on best practices and research in the field of special education, and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
