Job Description:

We are urgently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team for the remainder of the school year in Canton Township, MI. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our previous SPED teacher has left the position immediately, and we are in need of a qualified and committed educator to step in and provide continuity of learning and support for our students. This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative school environment, focusing on promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' unique learning needs and goals.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in individual and group settings, focusing on improving academic skills, adaptive behaviors, and independence.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective teaching strategies, accommodations, and support plans.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor students' progress, adjust instructional strategies, and ensure alignment with IEP goals.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, IEPs, progress monitoring, and communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • MI Standard or Professional certification with ANY of the SPED endorsements.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
