Respiratory Therapy Jobs in Mobile, AL
As one of the Gulf Coast’s cultural centers, Mobile houses several art museums, a symphony orchestra, a professional opera, a professional ballet company and a large concentration of historic architecture. Mobile is known for having the oldest organized Mardi Gras celebrations in the United States, as well as the oldest Carnival mystic society.
Mobile is home to an array of cultural influences with its French, British, Spanish, African, Creole and Catholic heritage distinguishing it from all other cities in the state of Alabama. The annual Carnival celebration is perhaps the best illustration of this, which officially begins after Twelfth Night, a holiday in some branches of Christianity marking the coming of the Epiphany. Mobile’s mystic societies also give formal masquerade balls, known as bal masqués, which are almost always invitation only and are oriented to adults.
Mobile is also home to a variety of museums, like the Mobile Museum of Art and the Battleship Memorial Park. The Mobile Carnival Museum houses the city’s Mardi Gras history and memorabilia, documents the variety of floats, costumes and displays seen during the history of the festival season. Mobile also offers a botanical garden, Bienville Square, Fort Condé and Langan Park, which is a 720-acre municipal park that features lakes and natural spaces.
