A behavioral specialist is responsible for providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. These services can include Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and positive reinforcement strategies. The goal of a behavioral specialist job in schools is to help students lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

BCBA, ABA & RBT Job Education Requirements
To apply for a BCBA job, behavioral specialists typically need at least a master’s degree in psychology, sociology, education or another related field. Many behavior specialists also have a Ph.D. or PsyD. In addition to their academic requirements, behavior specialists must also complete a clinical internship and pass a state-licensed exam. Some behavior specialists may need to complete continuing education credits to maintain their licenses.
