Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Assistive Technology Specialist, Braillist, or a related educational support position
- Proficiency in braille transcription, including familiarity with current braille codes and technology
- Comfortable evaluating, recommending, and implementing assistive technology solutions for students
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families
- Background working within school settings preferred
- Relevant certification or credential in assistive technology or braille transcription is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine individual student needs for assistive technology and braille materials
- Recommend, set up, and train students and staff in the use of appropriate assistive devices and software
- Transcribe and produce learning materials in braille
- Collaborate with educational teams to support student learning goals and IEPs
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in assistive technology and braille standards
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting
