Apply NowExciting opportunity available for a licensed Assistive Technology Specialist interested in making a difference in the lives of students from kindergarten through high school. This full-time, contract position runs the entire academic year, excluding major holiday breaks, providing stability and consistency for both you and the students you support.
In this role, you will work closely with students in grades K-12, providing crucial 1:1 assistive technology support. One of your key responsibilities will be transcribing braille materials for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and students, ensuring that all instructional content is accessible and tailored to individual learning needs. Your expertise will play a vital role in facilitating an inclusive and successful educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid professional licensure as an Assistive Technology Specialist
- Proficiency in supporting students across grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
- Solid background in braille transcription and adaptive technology
- Comfort with 1:1 support, adapting approaches based on grade level and student needs
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with TVIs, faculty, and families
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Transcribe academic materials into braille for TVIs and students
- Implement and maintain assistive technology solutions for a diverse student population
- Provide individualized support and training in device usage and braille literacy
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to assess and fulfill student learning accommodations
- Track and report on student progress, making data-informed recommendations
