Step into a vital role supporting K-12 students as an Assistive Technology Specialist in the vibrant San Francisco area! As a key contributor, you’ll collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to empower students by optimizing learning environments and technology access. This contract opportunity runs from August 1, 2026, through June 2, 2027, and offers a fulfilling, full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week).
Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure and educational credentials to practice as an Assistive Technology Specialist
- Demonstrated experience with assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of conducting functional evaluations and developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively work alongside occupational therapists, physical therapists, and teaching staff
- Experience supporting students across K-12 settings preferred
- Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills, particularly in due process and documentation
What You’ll Do:
- Offer itinerant support by providing on-site evaluations and consultations regarding curriculum modifications, classroom accessibility, and specialized technology solutions
- Manage due process responsibilities such as conducting functional assessments, writing targeted IEPs, and consistently monitoring student progress
- Collaborate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure holistic support for each student
- Maintain clear, thorough records of all interactions and interventions as required
- Stay current with innovative AT and AAC methodologies to continually enhance students’ access to the curriculum
