Elementary 1:1 Assistive Technology Specialist Therapist (AT) - Oxnard, CA

Make a meaningful impact by supporting a student as an Assistive Technology Specialist in an elementary school setting. This full-time contract position involves working 1:1 with a student, helping them utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and other assistive technology (AT) tools to enhance their learning and participation in the classroom.

Hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM (32.5 hours per week), making it an excellent choice for professionals seeking consistent daytime hours in an educational environment.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Experience working with AAC devices in an educational or therapeutic setting
• Background supporting students who use AT tools for communication and instructional access
• Comfortable providing individualized, student-centered support in a 1:1 role
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to students’ evolving needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working alongside teachers and staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Support a student in using AAC devices and recommended assistive technology throughout the school day
• Facilitate communication and access to curriculum and activities using appropriate AT strategies
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to implement and monitor technology usage
• Troubleshoot device issues and ensure equipment is functioning optimally
• Collect data on progress and contribute to planning individualized supports as needed
