Apply NowStep into an impactful contract role supporting elementary students as a 1:1 Assistive Technology Specialist. In this full-time position, you'll work closely with young learners to foster communication and promote access to instruction using a variety of assistive technology tools. This is an opportunity to directly support a student’s growth and engagement in a collaborative, encouraging environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM (32.5 hours per week).
Qualifications & Experience Needed:
- Previous experience supporting students who utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Working knowledge of assistive technology (AT) tools relevant to educational settings
- Experience in an elementary school environment preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Organized, patient, and adaptable with a passion for helping young students succeed
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to an elementary student, assisting with the effective use of AAC devices throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to customize instructional materials and learning approaches using assistive technology
- Conduct ongoing assessments to track progress and adjust technology supports as needed
- Empower the student’s communication, participation, and independence in classroom activities
- Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain AAC and AT devices
- Serve as a resource to school staff regarding assistive technology best practices
