This full-time, contract opportunity focuses on working directly with students and Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI), transforming educational access through assistive technologies and braille transcription. What we’re looking for:
- Current valid licensure as an Assistive Technology Specialist
- Experience supporting students in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
- Demonstrated proficiency in braille transcription and assistive technology use
- Comfortable providing individualized (1:1) support to students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible learning environments
- Ability to collaborate with TVIs, educators, and school support staff
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver hands-on, 1:1 assistive technology support for students with visual impairments
- Transcribe educational materials into braille for both TVI and student use
- Train students and staff on effective use of assistive devices and adaptive tools
- Collaborate with educators to integrate accessible materials into classroom instruction
- Maintain and troubleshoot assistive equipment, ensuring timely updates and repairs
- Monitor student progress and adapt support strategies as needed
