Situated near Riverside, CA, you will play a vital part in creating accessible learning environments throughout the academic year, with scheduled breaks over major holidays.
Utilizing your expertise and dedication, you will provide indispensable 1:1 support, focusing on assistive technologies for students with visual impairments. One of your primary tasks will involve transcribing materials into braille, assisting Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and students to enhance learning outcomes and ensure equal access to educational content.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid and current licensure as an Assistive Technology Specialist.
- Experience working with students in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
- Hands-on proficiency with braille transcription and knowledge of tactile educational materials.
- Proven experience providing individualized (1:1) support to students with disabilities.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working alongside TVIs and multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with assistive technology tools and educational software.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe print materials into braille for teachers and students as needed.
- Provide 1:1 support for students, helping them utilize assistive technology devices and resources.
- Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired and classroom educators on adapting instructional materials.
- Stay up to date with emerging assistive technology trends and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) where applicable.
