Make a real impact enhancing educational experiences for K-12 students as an Assistive Technology Specialist. This contract opportunity, located in the San Francisco area, centers around supporting learners and educational staff by developing accessible and inclusive classroom environments.
Your expertise in assistive technology will be essential as you evaluate, recommend, and implement adaptive tools—especially AT and AAC devices—for students with diverse needs. You’ll collaborate closely with educational teams, provide consultative support, and play an integral role in due process responsibilities.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state licensure and educational certification required
- Demonstrated experience in assistive technology support within educational settings
- Strong understanding of a variety of AT and AAC devices and their classroom applications
- Ability to develop and write IEPs as well as conduct comprehensive student evaluations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, especially with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working across K-12 grade levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site itinerant support, evaluations, and consultations on curriculum modifications and classroom accessibility
- Conduct functional evaluations and write individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Track and document student progress regarding AT interventions
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and classroom teachers to ensure seamless technology integration
- Offer training and resources to staff to maximize the impact of assistive tech solutions
