Step into a rewarding role making a meaningful difference as an Assistive Technology Specialist supporting elementary students in a one-to-one setting. You'll play an essential part in empowering students with unique communication needs, working full time Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM (32.5 hours per week), on a contract basis.
Key Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Background working as an Assistive Technology Specialist, ideally in elementary school settings
- Demonstrated experience supporting students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Knowledge of a broad range of assistive technology (AT) tools that enhance communication and access to learning
- Ability to collaborate closely with classroom teachers and related service professionals to implement communication supports
- Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and student-centered technology integration
- Patient, flexible, and proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized assistance to a student using AAC devices, ensuring access to classroom activities and instruction
- Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain assistive technology equipment and devices
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families on the selection and adaptation of appropriate AT tools
- Train students, staff, and caregivers on the effective use of AAC devices and customized technology solutions
- Document student progress, modify strategies as needed, and contribute input at IEP meetings
