This position offers you the chance to work 1:1 with students, providing hands-on support that enhances communication, independence, and access to education. You’ll collaborate closely with educators and support staff in a vibrant school setting near Simi Valley, CA.

Key Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as an Assistive Technology Specialist, preferably in an elementary school environment.
  • Proven background supporting students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
  • Working knowledge of a range of assistive technology (AT) tools aimed at promoting engagement, communication, and instructional access.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support students, staff, and families.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized support for a student utilizing AAC devices and other assistive technologies throughout the school day.
  • Assess needs, recommend, and implement appropriate AT solutions to enhance student participation and learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and related service providers to integrate AT strategies into daily instruction.
  • Train school staff and family members on the use and maintenance of assistive technology equipment.
  • Monitor and document progress, adjusting approaches as necessary to maximize student success.
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in AAC and AT to continually improve support methods.
