Step into a meaningful contract role supporting elementary school students as an Assistive Technology Specialist. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to empower young learners who rely on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. Collaborate closely in a 1:1 setting, providing expertise and encouragement that leads to greater independence and inclusion in the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

  • Prior experience assisting students using AAC devices.
  • Adept with a range of assistive technology (AT) tools designed for enhancing communication and instructional access.
  • Familiarity with elementary age learners and their educational needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to individual learning styles and needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 support to an elementary school student with AAC needs throughout the school day.
  • Assess and implement appropriate AT tools to foster learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to develop and adjust communication strategies.
  • Train staff and caregivers in effective use of AAC and assistive technology.
  • Collect and report data on student progress, making adjustments as needed for optimal outcomes.
  • Help create an inclusive classroom environment that supports communication and access for all students.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM (32.5 hours per week)
  • Full-time, contract position
