This role involves working closely with a kindergarten student who uses a wheelchair and requires high-level medical support. Position Details:
- Full-time, 32.5 hours per week
- Schedule: Short-term assignment (September through mid-November), with potential extension through the full school year
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Experience working with pediatric populations, especially children with physical and medical needs, is highly preferred
- Skilled in supporting students who use wheelchairs and require frequent or advanced medical assistance during the school day
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators and medical professionals
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting the unique needs of children in a school setting
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to respond calmly in challenging situations
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and monitoring for the assigned kindergarten student throughout the school day
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning in accordance with safety protocols
- Support personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and hygiene
- Implement prescribed medical plans under the supervision of school health staff
- Foster a nurturing, respectful, and inclusive environment for the student
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of care provided
