Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR) | Sterling Heights, Michigan

Step into a vital imaging role providing interventional radiology support in a collaborative healthcare setting. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. The schedule is structured to support work/life balance: standard hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with required on-call coverage—one weekend every six weeks and Monday-Friday evenings every six weeks, based on volume and scheduling needs.

Key Qualifications:

• Current ARRT certification required; Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Foundational experience in both general Imaging and IR Tech duties
• Familiarity with sterile technique and operation of specialized radiographic equipment
• Ability to participate actively in an on-call rotation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities:

• Explain procedures and prepare patients, ensuring comfort and understanding
• Gather relevant medical history and review clinical data before procedures
• Set up, calibrate, and operate imaging equipment, applying radiation safety principles
• Prepare, administer, and manage contrast media, IV solutions, and medications as prescribed
• Assist the Radiologist during diagnostic and invasive procedures
• Maintain inventory and proper storage of all equipment and supplies
• Perform and document pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient assessments
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure accurate, high-quality uploads to PACS
• Accurately index and document studies in the Radiology Information System
• Maintain high standards of communication, professionalism, and patient care
• Support orientation and training of new team members or students as needed
• Adhere to established departmental protocols and quality assurance processes
