A specialized role is available for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist skilled in cardiac nuclear stress testing and diagnostic procedures within a hospital outpatient setting. This contract position requires expertise in operating advanced nuclear medicine imaging equipment and managing radiopharmaceuticals safely according to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment and use immobilization devices as needed for diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, perform radionuclide procedures including organ imaging and function studies.
- Evaluate images using PACS to ensure diagnostic quality and proper patient identification.
- Calibrate and maintain imaging equipment, assay radionuclides, and inspect radiopharmaceutical shipments per state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of radioactive material receipt, usage, storage, and disposal.
- Perform clerical duties including use of EPIC, Teletracking, and Nuclear Medicine Information Systems for scheduling and processing patient data.
- Rotate work assignments between cardiology and PET/CT areas as needed.
- Provide radiation protection following prescribed safety protocols.
- Adhere to departmental policies including those on attendance, behavior, patient communication, and organizational competencies.
- Engage patients and caregivers with clear communication tailored to cultural, linguistic, and developmental needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Valid NJDEP license.
- ARRT or NMTCB registry certification.
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with cardiac nuclear stress testing and nuclear medicine imaging equipment such as Digirad camera, Philips reporting systems, and software like NucTrac and EPIC.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; plus two Wednesdays monthly as needed.
- One Saturday per month required.
- No holiday or on-call requirements.
