This position focuses on preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, performing specialized histo- and immunocyto-chemistry testing, and ensuring rigorous quality control. Openings are available for all shifts, with an immediate need for skilled professionals willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts—these shifts offer competitive differentials ($3/hour for 2nd, $3.50/hour for 3rd, applicable after 4 hours worked on qualifying shifts).
As a valued part of the laboratory team, you will maintain, process, and troubleshoot specimens, including those for molecular testing, and respond efficiently to stat requests in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule/Hours
- All shifts available, with priority for 2nd and 3rd shifts (hours may vary).
- Shift differentials offered for qualifying hours on 2nd and 3rd shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens—including immunocytochemical procedures—as requested to support patient diagnoses.
- Document and perform instrument maintenance; manage quality control and maintain related records.
- Guide and support fellow Histotechnologists and Histotechnicians, offering training as needed.
- Grossly assess tissue adequacy in the operating room, collaborating with pathologists and ensuring correct specimen processing.
- Adapt to additional responsibilities as the position requires.
Position Qualifications
- Certification as Histotechnician (ASCP) or Histotechnologist (ASCP) required.
- Minimum of one year of relevant laboratory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in high volume settings and communicate effectively with clinical teams.
