Histology Technician in Nashville, TN

Step into an important role preparing tissue specimens for microscopic analysis, supporting critical diagnoses in an innovative laboratory setting. This direct hire opportunity offers five openings across all shifts, with a particular need for 2nd and 3rd shift coverage. Dedicated professionals will play a fundamental part in histology, immunocytochemical, and molecular testing workflows. Hourly compensation ranges from $30.75 to $46.12, with shift differentials of $3/hr for second shift and $3.50/hr for third shift applied when working at least four hours in the eligible periods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare tissue specimens using embedding, cutting, staining (including histology and immunocytochemistry), and specialized procedures as requested by pathologists.
• Ensure quality by performing and documenting instrument maintenance; maintain thorough quality control and procedural records.
• Provide training and support to Histotechnologists and Histotechnicians, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Assess tissue adequacy in the operating room, collaborating with Attending Physicians/Fellows to ensure proper sample division and fixation.
• Manage a high-volume workload, including fast-paced stat requests, and troubleshoot processes as needed.
• Participate in ongoing departmental functions and additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in histology.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and laboratory best practices.
