Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working as a Pathology Assistant or Pathologist Assistant
- Strong knowledge of laboratory protocols, specimen handling, and diagnostic procedures
- Ability to gross surgical specimens and prepare tissues for analysis
- Proficiency in adhering to laboratory safety regulations
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation abilities
- ASCP certification, preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant laboratory science or completion of accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
Responsibilities:
- Receive, accession, and dissect surgical specimens according to established protocols
- Prepare detailed gross descriptions and ensure proper specimen labeling
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff for seamless case workflow
- Maintain accurate records and uphold data integrity in all laboratory processes
- Support quality assurance and participate in continuing education
- Assist with autopsies or post-mortem examinations as assigned
- Ensure compliance with safety and best practice standards
