COVR Operating Room Technician (CVOR) in Endicott, NY

Advance your career by contributing specialized skills to a dynamic Operating Room team as a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work with a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries.

Schedule:

• Day rotation, Monday through Friday, typically starting between 6:00am–7:00am
• 40 hours per week (choose between five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts)
• 13-week engagement
• Up to three call shifts per week, ranging 8–16 hours each
• One working weekend per four-week period, with call requirement

Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA)
• Active BLS certification
• Proven experience working as a CVOR Tech, including hands-on involvement with cardiothoracic surgeries (CABG, valve replacements, VATS, robotic procedures)
• Comprehensive understanding of sterile technique and asepsis
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Consistently applies infection control and follows sterile technique in all surgical activities
• Works closely with the surgical team to gown, glove, drape, and pass instruments, anticipating surgeons’ needs throughout procedures
• Ensures a well-organized and accurate operative field, including instrument counts and supply management
• Prepares, maintains, and cares for surgical instruments pre- and post-procedure according to established protocols
• Collaborates to provide a safe operating environment, proactively checking equipment and identifying hazards
• Assists directly in procedures, including suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the surgeon’s direction
• Appropriately handles and identifies all surgical specimens
• Supports quick and efficient room turnover between cases
• Participates in rotating call duties and adapts flexibly to additional tasks as needed
