COVR Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician | Johnson City, New York

Highly skilled surgical technologists are needed to support a diverse range of cardiothoracic procedures within a dynamic and collaborative operating room. In this crucial role, you will function as a valued member of the CVOR team, working closely with surgeons and fellow OR staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of sterile technique.

Schedule:

• Day rotation, Monday through Friday with shifts typically beginning between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
• 40 hours per week (option for either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts)
• Call requirements: Up to 3 call shifts per week (8 to 16 hours each)
• One working weekend with corresponding call shift every 4 weeks
• 13-week assignment

Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA)
• Active BLS certification
• Demonstrated specialty experience in CVOR and cardiothoracic procedures (including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, robotic chest procedures)
• Expert knowledge of sterile technique, surgical supplies, instrumentation, and perioperative care

Responsibilities:

• Strictly adhere to infection control policies and all principles of sterile technique before and during surgical procedures
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, efficiently passing instruments, supplies, and assisting with retraction, suctioning, and specimen handling
• Maintain an organized, safe operative field; handle counts and after-procedure instrument care
• Prepare cases accurately by assembling required supplies and equipment
• Assist in the turnover of ORs between cases for efficient workflow
• Support the overall environment of safety by identifying equipment hazards and collaborating with circulating RNs
• Serve as a resource for new staff and seek assistance from experienced colleagues as needed
• Fulfill rotating call and weekend requirements
