Step into a vital surgical support role specializing in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) technology. This position demands both technical skill and precision as you assist in advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries. You'll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative operating room environment, contributing directly to patient outcomes and surgical team excellence.

Schedule:

  • Day rotation (Monday–Friday), 40 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Start between 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Choose between five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts weekly
  • Up to three on-call shifts per week (8–16 hours each)
  • One working weekend (with call) every four weeks

Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Direct CVOR experience required, with strong background in cardiothoracic cases (CABG, valve replacements, VATS, robotic chest procedures)
  • Proven proficiency in sterile technique and cardiovascular operating procedures
  • Previous contract or hospital experience strongly preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aseptic conditions and anticipation of surgeon needs during complex procedures
  • Adhere to Infection Control protocols and principles of sterile technique throughout all perioperative phases
  • Gown, glove, drape, and efficiently pass required instruments, ensuring an organized operative workspace
  • Conduct accurate sponge, needle, tape, and instrument counts
  • Assemble and manage surgical supplies based on procedure preference cards; resolve conflicts proactively
  • Assist with patient safety checks, preoperative testing, and surgical team support
  • Handle and label specimens per policy, maintain effective room turnover, and remain available for rotating call shifts
  • Support orientation and training of new OR staff as needed
