This specialized opportunity calls for a skilled professional with extensive Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) and cardiothoracic surgical experience. Your expertise will be vital in supporting complex cases such as CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest procedures. Flexibility is essential, as additional responsibilities may include working in the general OR if cardiothoracic volume is low.

Schedule Options:

  • 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (7:00am–3:30pm)
  • 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00am–5:30pm)
  • 1 to 2 call shifts weekly (13.5 or 15.5 hours per call shift)
  • 1 to 2 weekends on-call per month (24 hours Saturday and 24 hours Sunday)

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proven CVOR and cardiothoracic experience (CABG, valves, VATS, robotic procedures required)
  • In-depth knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of surgeons and maintain organization during procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere strictly to sterile techniques and infection control protocols throughout surgical procedures
  • Support surgeons with gowning, gloving, draping, passing instruments, and anticipating procedural needs
  • Maintain impeccable organization in the operative field and ensure accurate counts of all surgical materials
  • Prepare the OR for cases, assemble equipment, and resolve supply or procedural conflicts
  • Care for instruments and supplies post-procedure and aid in efficient OR turnover
  • Participate actively in patient safety and hazard identification
  • Serve as a resource to new staff and collaborate closely with the OR team
  • Handle surgical specimens per policy and assist in other tasks as directed
