Step into a critical role supporting cardiothoracic surgical care as a skilled CVOR Technologist. This assignment offers a blend of teamwork, technical expertise, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a high-acuity operating room setting.

Schedule:

  • Day rotation, Monday through Friday
  • 40 hours per week (5x8-hour shifts or 4x10-hour shifts), typically starting between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • 13-week contract
  • Call requirements: Up to 3 call shifts per week (8 to 16 hours each)
  • One working weekend (plus call shift) every 4 weeks

Qualifications:

  • Valid NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist credential
  • BLS certification required
  • Demonstrated Cardiothoracic (CVOR) experience: experience with CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest procedures is essential
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection control guidelines
  • Previous experience with surgical instrumentation, assisting surgeons, and preparing the operating field

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce strict sterile and aseptic technique throughout all procedures
  • Prepare surgical instruments and supplies based on case-specific requirements and surgeon preference cards
  • Anticipate surgeon needs throughout cardiac and thoracic procedures, handing instruments, gowns, gloves, and equipment
  • Keep detailed and accurate counts of all surgical items
  • Identify potential hazards and collaborate with the OR team to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with suturing, retracting, suctioning, and specimen identification under the direction of the surgeon
  • Contribute to efficient operating room turnover and collaborate in the training and support of new staff
  • Participate in rotating call schedule to support continuous surgical coverage
