COVR Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician | Owego, New York

Bring your expertise in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) technology to a dynamic healthcare environment where your skills will be valued every day. This contract opportunity requires strong experience in CVOR and cardiothoracic procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries.

Schedule:

• Day rotation, Monday through Friday (start times 6a-7a)
• 40 hours per week
• 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts
• 13-week assignment
• Up to 3 on-call shifts per week, ranging from 8 to 16 hours
• One working weekend with call shift every 4 weeks

Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA required)
• Active BLS certification
• Proven experience in CVOR, including support of cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Strong understanding of sterile technique, infection control, and OR safety practices
• Flexibility and commitment to rotating call responsibilities
• Positive communicator and supportive team member

Key Responsibilities:

• Practice and uphold sterile technique throughout the surgical process
• Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, draping, instrument passing, and anticipating needs
• Maintain an organized, clean operative field and ensure accurate counting of sponges, tapes, needles, and instruments
• Prepare cases by assembling supplies/equipment per preference cards and resolve any discrepancies
• Safeguard patient safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards
• Actively participate in equipment checks and specimen handling
• Support new OR staff and utilize experienced colleagues as resources
• Facilitate efficient turnover of OR between cases
• Take part in rotating on-call assignments and additional responsibilities as needed
