Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior experience as an Operating Room Technician (ORT) or Surgical Technician (non-certified)
- Practical knowledge of sterile techniques and infection prevention protocols
- Proficient in the setup, care, and handling of surgical instruments and equipment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and according to established workflows
- High school diploma or equivalent required (completion of a surgical technology program preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring proper sterilization and arrangement of instruments and supplies
- Assist surgeons, registered nurses, and anesthesia staff during surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgeries and promptly manage contaminated items
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments and materials efficiently
- Manage the collection and handling of specimens for laboratory analysis
- Assist with inventory control and restocking of surgical supplies
- Support post-procedure clean-up and proper disposal of surgical waste
