A leading teaching hospital recognized as a Level 1 Trauma and Pediatric Trauma Center with over 900 licensed beds is seeking an experienced certified Surgical Technologist with strong background in nursing ORT for a contract assignment. This is an essential role within a high-acuity surgical department managing 70-100 cases per day across 32 operating suites. The facility is a Magnet Designation hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center with advanced robotics and complex surgical specialties.
Schedule & Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
- On-call required: one late call (1900-2300) weekly
- Weekend call rotation: one shift every 6-8 weeks, 0600 Saturday to 0600 Monday (call only)
- Must be able to respond within one hour when on call
- Expectation to work 50% of holidays during contract
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Level I or II Trauma Center (Level III or below not considered)
- Graduate of surgical tech program; CST preferred but not required
- BLS certification required
- Proficient with general, transplant, minimally invasive/laparoscopic, robotics (DaVinci XI), GYN, surgical and ortho oncology, orthopedic trauma, neuro spine, neuro head/brain, skull-based tumor, plastics, deep flap reconstruction, head/neck free flap, airway cases
- Experience with ortho trauma and microsurgery is mandatory
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
Key Responsibilities:
- Anticipate needs of surgical teams in complex, high-stakes environments
- Adhere to all perioperative safety and infection protocols
- Maintain proficiency with EMR (Epic), IV pumps (Alaris), and medication dispensing (Omnicell)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of RNs, CRNAs, OR assistants, and supportive leadership
