A fast-paced surgical tech position is open in Chicago, IL, specializing in orthopedic and spine procedures. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals with at least two years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Surgical Tech, particularly with expertise in general surgery, hand, foot/ankle, sports medicine, total joint robotics, and advanced spine ortho robotics including Mako, Rosa, and Cori systems.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of CST or Surgical Tech experience
- Experience with general, orthopedic, and sports medicine surgeries
- Familiarity with robotics in surgical settings (Mako, Rosa, Cori) is essential
- NBSTSA certification preferred but not required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Location: Situated in Chicago, this role is based at a specialty orthopedic and spine hospital known for high surgical volume and technological advancements. The hospital features a 20-bed operating room unit and is recognized for delivering focused specialty care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide surgical tech support primarily during complex orthopedic and spine surgeries
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments for robotic and conventional surgery
- Respond promptly to on-call requests with a 30-minute call-back time, minimum 2-hour active call expectation
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team in a fast-paced environment
Schedule Details:
- 10-hour day shifts with rotation for call during weekends and holidays
- On-call frequency averages 8 calls over six weeks
This position begins within two weeks of hire, with interviews scheduled for the week of the 30th. Credentialing is required prior to orientation.
