Step into a high-acuity surgical environment at a leading teaching and trauma center, where your experience as a Surgical Technologist makes an immediate impact. You’ll collaborate within a dynamic team performing 70-100 surgical cases per day, from general and minimally invasive procedures to complex trauma, transplants, and advanced reconstructive microsurgery. As part of a well-supported department with a clinical supervisor, charge RN, and dedicated anesthesia team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care.
Schedule & Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900, totaling 36 hours per week
- Late call required once per week (1900–2300)
- Weekend call shift every 6-8 weeks (0600 Saturday – 0600 Monday), with a one-hour response time
- Holiday shifts required for 50% of holidays during the contract
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center (required; Level III or below not accepted)
- Graduate of a surgical technology program; CST certification highly preferred
- BLS certification required
- Proven skills in orthopedic trauma, head/neck free flap plastics reconstruction, and microsurgery
- Experience assisting with robotics (DaVinci XI), neuro, orthopedic, and advanced oncology cases
- Previous travel contract experience (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields
- Anticipate surgeon needs during complex procedures
- Ensure equipment readiness (EPIC EMR, Alaris IV, Omnicell medication management)
- Participate in call shifts with quick response as required
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members
