Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required
  • Prior experience in perioperative services or surgical tech role preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OR techniques, sterile field protocols, and surgical instrumentation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate team needs and swiftly prioritize during emergent situations
  • Commitment to continuous learning and departmental education programs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scrub in and assist on general surgical procedures under the supervision of the surgical team
  • Prepare the OR with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies tailored to the surgical case
  • Ensure all tools are functioning and report issues promptly
  • Maintain infection control, safety, and departmental quality standards
  • Support preoperative patient care, including transport and comfort measures
  • Keep surgical environments clean, organized, and properly stocked
  • Assist RNs with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges from the OR
  • Participate actively in continuing education, quality audits, and orientation of new staff
  • Engage in discussions about role enhancement and departmental improvements
