Step into an essential role supporting a busy operating suite at a major teaching hospital equipped with 20 OR rooms and designated as a Level 1 Trauma and Stroke Center. As a Surgical Technologist or Certified ORT, you will play a pivotal role in a dynamic environment known for teamwork, comprehensive patient care, and advanced surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
Schedule/Hours:
- 10-hour day shifts, 7a–5p, 40 hours per week
- 6–9 on-call shifts per month, including weekends and holidays (call-back required)
- 6-week schedule cycle
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in General OR required; 5+ years for CVOR cases
- Credentialed in Surgical Technology—completion of an accredited program (CST preferred)
- Current BLS certification
- Competency in perioperative patient care, instrumentation, and sterile technique
- Strong communication skills and an aptitude for collaborative, fast-paced teamwork
- Experience with EMR (EPIC Optime), Pyxis, Alaris IV pumps, and Phillips monitors is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons in a range of procedures: general, OB/GYN, ortho, neuro, plastics, cardiovascular, and robotics
- Prepare operating rooms and instrumentation, ensuring a sterile environment at all times
- Provide skilled support to surgeons and RNs before, during, and after procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation, responding efficiently to emergency and scheduled cases
- Adhere to hospital safety, infection control, and surgical protocols
