Take your surgical technology expertise to a high-acuity, fast-paced setting at a nationally recognized facility with Level I Trauma and Magnet designations. This nursing ORT and Certified Surgical Tech contract role demands strong clinical skills and the ability to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary surgical teams.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts: 07:00 – 19:00, 36 hours per week
- Occasional late call: 19:00 – 23:00, once per week
- Weekend call once every 6-8 weeks (Saturday 06:00 to Monday 06:00)
- Holiday coverage required for 50% of contract holidays
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center (Level III or below not considered)
- Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program; CST preferred, not required
- BLS certification
- Demonstrated experience in general, transplant, minimally invasive, laparoscopic, GYN, robotics (DaVinci XI), ortho trauma, surgical/ortho oncology, neuro spine/brains, skull-based tumors, plastics (head/neck free flaps), microsurgery
- Ortho trauma and head/neck free flaps experience are required
- Not accepting first-time travelers
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrub procedures across a wide case mix including trauma, oncology, orthopedics, neuro, and plastics
- Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to standards of care in high-volume, complex surgical suite (32 ORs)
- Respond timely to all on-call assignments (1-hour response required)
- Foster a collaborative approach with charge RNs, anesthesia, and OR staff
- Utilize EPIC, Alaris, and Omnicell technology/equipment
