An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Surgical Technologist First Assist to join a dynamic operating room team in a large, high-acuity hospital setting. This role focuses on perioperative care in a fast-paced, Level 1 trauma facility, ensuring excellence across an array of complex surgical cases including ortho (with spine), abdominal robotics, plastics, transplant, trauma, neuro, general, GYN, urology, ENT, cardiothoracic, vascular, and more. The assignment features start dates of 6/1, 6/15, 6/22, and 6/29, and runs on 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) with varying weekdays according to operational needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience with significant scrub and first assist exposure.
  • Prior travel surgical technologist experience is mandatory.
  • Active CST First Assist certification through NBSTA on file at submission.
  • Documented proficiency in ortho, ortho spine, abdominal robotics, and plastics.
  • NBSTA CST-FA certification required; no alternate certifications accepted.
  • Able to competently first assist and scrub on a wide variety of adult surgical cases.
  • Willingness to float between operating rooms as needed; hospital experience only (no peds).
  • Residency outside a 75-mile radius is necessary (no local travelers).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct surgical assistance and scrubbing in a 56-bed OR (inpatient/outpatient) and five procedural rooms.
  • Care for predominantly adult patients undergoing complex and high-acuity procedures.
  • Adapt schedule as assigned; cannot guarantee block scheduling.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in a teaching and trauma-focused setting.
