This opportunity offers an engaging contract role specializing in surgical technology and nursing within orthopedics and trauma care. Located in Prattville, AL, this position involves working critical 12-hour night shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, supporting a Level II Trauma Center known for its comprehensive medical services including trauma, neuro, vascular, and general surgery specialties.

Key responsibilities include assisting in complex surgical procedures, particularly in trauma (excluding burns), neurological, vascular (including endovascular cases), orthopedic spine, ENT, robotics (Mazor/DaVinci XI preferred), and general surgery. Candidates will collaborate closely with unit support staff such as Operating Room Assistants, desk assistants, and charge nurses to ensure smooth surgical operations. Familiarity with advanced medical technology, including Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing systems, and Spacelabs monitors, is essential.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Strong surgical experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, ortho spine, robotics, and general surgery
  • Competency in vascular procedures like AAA, carotids, AVG, AVF, fem-fem bypass, and aorta bi-fem operations is preferred
  • Certification as a Surgical Tech is preferred but not mandatory
  • At least two years of related experience required; first-time travelers considered
  • Ability to manage a 1:1 patient ratio with primarily adult cases; minimal pediatric involvement
  • Willingness to participate in a 2-week daytime orientation and buddy call
  • Availability for on-call duties including one specific day per week and one weekend per month

Scheduling:

  • 12-hour night shifts: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
  • Weekend rotation on call, including holiday work expectations
