Operating Room Technician in South Portland, ME

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current certification as a Surgical Technician (required)
• Proficient skills in ORT, including sterile technique and instrumentation
• Previous experience assisting in a variety of surgical procedures
• Ability to anticipate the needs of surgeons and maintain a smooth operative flow
• Familiarity with surgical supplies, equipment setup, pre-op patient care, and post-op room turnover
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Capacity to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced surgical environment

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms and organize equipment for specific surgical cases
• Maintain a sterile environment and ensure all instruments are properly sterilized and accounted for
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies as needed
• Monitor patient safety and assist with positioning and prepping patients for procedures
• Handle specimens appropriately according to protocols
• Work collaboratively with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff
• Contribute to accurate and timely documentation
• Support daily workflow, including cleaning and restocking of operating rooms
