Embark on an exciting role supporting vital procedures in a dynamic surgical environment. This contract opportunity invites experienced professionals to contribute their expertise and compassion while collaborating with dedicated OR staff.
Schedule Options:
- Choose between five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, with daily end times at 11:30pm (shifts run 3:00pm–11:30pm or 1:00pm–11:30pm)
- Rotating call responsibility includes one weekend every 3 to 4 weeks (evening shifts, Saturday and Sunday until 11:30pm)
- Additional 1-2 night call shifts per week (11:30pm–7:00am) following scheduled weekend work
Qualifications:
- Valid and current Surgical Tech Certification or Nursing-ORT credentials
- Thorough knowledge and application of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Demonstrated expertise in surgical scrub procedures and infection control
- Strong ability to assist surgeons, anticipate needs, and provide accurate instrument, sponge, and supply management during procedures
- Team-oriented, reliable, and able to mentor new OR staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols in all operative activities
- Gown, glove, drape, and provide the necessary tools for surgeon and procedure
- Keep the operative field organized and maintain critical supply counts
- Assemble and prepare surgical supplies/equipment, addressing potential conflicts proactively
- Safeguard patients and staff by identifying hazards and ensuring readiness of equipment
- Facilitate smooth OR turnover and deliver efficient, high-quality patient care
- Participate in a collaborative environment, utilizing and providing resources as needed
- Take responsibility for handling, labeling, and transporting surgical specimens according to policy
- Fulfill rotating call duties as assigned
