Operating Room Technician in York, ME

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST required)
• Background in Nursing – ORT with relevant education or experience
• Previous experience in the operating room (ORT) setting
• Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control
• Ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Adaptability to fast-paced, evolving surgical environments

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment appropriately
• Assist surgeons and other medical professionals during operative and invasive procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique before, during, and after procedures
• Ensure all countable items are accounted for accurately before incision, before closure, and at procedure completion
• Handle surgical specimens per protocol, ensuring accurate labeling and transfer
• Monitor and help maintain the safety and comfort of the surgical patient
• Work collaboratively with circulating nurses, anesthesiologists, and other staff to facilitate smooth surgical operations
